I remember hearing that when you are dieting to reduce candida. You can get a bad body odor. Is this true, and what can be done about it?

Candida is the fungus that gives women a yeast infection. The only thing it does to men is (sometimes) cause an infection in the head of the penis. If you want more information just enter "Candida" into your browser and spend a lot of time looking at all the sites that appear.

(Ellen J, you’re not on the same page as the questioner.) They’re asking about what happens when Candida takes over one’s digestion system, is there a diet to deal with that? Is that right?
I came here because I don’t know the answer to this specific question myself, and was curious.
Candida doesn’t have anything to do with dieting. It can happen to men as well as women. I’m going to assume that this person asking the question has already searched about candida on the internet and hasn’t found anyone who has dietary suggestions to deal with this problem.
This problem occurs after taking antibiotics. Candida is present to a proportionate extent in the many “good” natural intestinal floras. The problem occurs when it “takes over” and becomes too dominant, crowding out the rest. Many people who suffer from this problem are also allergic to many things, some to the point of being ‘chemically sensitive’ to their environment in general. So it’s not just a matter of smelling funny, it’s a real health issue.
The scent the person is talking about is very distinctive, and since it’s all-pervasive, the person who has the problem doesn’t smell it. It’s a very “yeasty” smell, somewhat like being in a micro-brewery. All of the person’s clothes smell this way, even when they are washed. The only way to get the smell out that I know of is to soak their clothing and other possessions in salt water.
So that’s my only offering of information here. I bought a used swim mask with that scent on it, which was why it was cheap undoubtedly. The first time I went swimming in the ocean with it, the scent disappeared – which was a happy accident.
The only thing I know how to do to avoid getting Candida is to never take antibiotics when you do not absolutely need them. If you must & once you are done taking antibiotics, it’s very important to eat yogurt and/or Acidophilis to re-populate your intestines with the “good” proportions of intestinal flora that the antibiotics have killed off.
I’d still love to hear if there are any dietary solutions to this problem.
