I have been doing some research today on Hydrotherma ablation.(after canceling my hysterectomy yesterday….due to complications and being scared to death) It seems that it is only helpful for heavy bleeding. I don’t have heavy bleeding just very painful. I have endo and possibly adenomyosis. The dr also told me that it would not help for the pain. My thought on this is if I don’t have periods anymore then I won’t have nearly the pain anymore…Right?? I am confused as to why it would not help with the pain. If you don’t have a period anymore then I would think that the endo would not act up during your period time??? Am I right about that or would the hormones still cause the endo to act up??

Is there any other treatments that are effective against endo??? I know about many of the medicines and have tried most of them. I was also thinking about an IUD. Has anyone had success with that??

Any other suggestions would be helpful…. Thanks.

As we mentioned in other articles, endometriosis growing somewhere else other than the endometrium also reacts to hormonal signals of the monthly menstrual cycle by building up tissue, breaking it, and eliminating it through the menstrual period. As we know essential oil–lavender plays a very important role in some culture in treating all kind of diseases. In this article, we will discuss how lavender helps to treat endometriosis.

I. Definition
Essential oil–lavender is also known as Lavandula officinalis, it is extracted from lavandula angustifolia of the lamiaceae family. It has been used to relieve tension of the nervous system.

II. How Essential Oil–Lavender effects women with endometriosis
Essential oil–lavender contains chemical components of a-pinene, limonene, linalool, cis-ocimene, trans-ocimene, etc.

1. Nervous system
Essential oil–lavender has a soothing and calming effect on the nerves, thereby it helps to relieve the nervous tension that causes symptoms of endometriosis including depression, panic, hysteria and it is effective in treating headaches, migraines.

2. Menstrual Cramps
Since it helps to improve the function of nervous system, it reduces the muscle tension in the body including the uterine muscle resulting in lessening the menstrual cramps.

3. Anti-inflammatory
Essential oil–lavender contains a-pinene and limonene that help to increase function of immune system that is important to fight off the inflammation of endometrial implants and adhesion.

4. Insomnia
Insomnia is one of the symptoms of women with endometriosis, it is either caused by menstrual cramps or over active brain cells that have kept them at wake at night. Essential oil–lavender is said to help to calm the brain cell and reduce menstrual cramps resulting in lessening the risk of insomnia.

5. Bowel disorder
Essential oil–lavender is said to helps to move the stool in the large intestine that acts as a laxative resulting in lessening the pain caused by endometriosis implants and adhesion attached to secretion organs.

6. Respiratory system
It is also a respiratory system tonic, by increasing the blood circulation to the lung that increases the lung function in absorption of oxygen resulting in lessening the problems of bronchitis, asthma, colds, laryngitis, halitosis, throat infections and weakening the immune system.

Endometriosis is a medical problem found in women. This medical condition is created when the endometrial cells are producing on the outside of the woman’s uterus instead of within where they should be. These cells are ordinarily released every month during a woman’s menstrual cycle. When these endometrial cells bind themselves to tissue that is on the outer edges of the uterus they are named endometriosis implants.

Doctors might find these implants on the woman’s fallopian tubes, ovaries, on pelvis, the outer side of the uterus, or intestines. While rare it is feasible for physicians to also discover them on the cervix, vagina, and bladder. The endometrial cells can create painful symptoms and other health problems in a woman – but they are not cancerous.

Health experts will try to diagnose endometriosis based on the symptoms that the woman feels during the examination. They will ordinarily execute a rectovaginal examination. During this process the doctor will put one finger in the vagina and the other finger in the rectum. Through this method the physician will have the power to search for and feel the endometrial implants that might be settled on the uterus or along the wall of the pelvis.

While the exam and the symptoms aid the physician to reach the right conclusion they are not always trustworthy. Because of this they might require to use an ultrasound – which will rule out any diagnoses of pelvic diseases and may be efficient to see endometrial cells that are along the bladder or vagina.

The more accurate method of diagnosing endometriosis is to examine the inside of the woman’s abdomen and pelvis and to biopsy the tissue of the implants that they might find. This involves surgery in which the operating surgeon will open the stomach utilising a large incision laparoscopy or a small incision laparoscopy.

Laparoscopy is more standard because it is the a simpler process that can be done when the patient is under general or local anesthesia. Also the patient will ordinarily have the ability to go home the same day of the operation. At times the biopsies that are collected during the procedure may help to diagnose endometriosis even if there are no visible implants discovered by the surgeon.

Endometriosis has been linked to immune system disorders in several ways. Some doctors believe that endometriosis is a secondary immune deficiency disease. A secondary immune deficiency disease occurs when the immune system is threatened by elements that are outside of the immune system. This may include viruses, pollution and toxins. This differs from a primary immune deficiency disease in that the disorder is actually a flaw in the immune system. This means that the immune system does not function properly due to intrinsic faults or genetic defects within it.

Of course, some endometriosis may be a primary immune deficiency disease, but many doctors gravitate more toward that secondary immune deficiency disease verdict. Whatever the case, there is not argument that women with endometriosis tend to be more prone to illness. Whether the immune system is not working properly or it is compromised by external factors, the bottom line is that an impaired immune system leaves the body wide open for other illnesses such as colds, flu and other infections.

Each month, during a woman’s menstruation, the lining of the uterus is shed in preparation of the next cycle. This lining is called endometrium. Now, most of the endometrium exits through the cervix and is expelled through the vagina. There are times, though, when the endometrial tissue fragments miss their mark, so to speak, and exit the fallopian tubes, depositing directly into the abdominal cavity. While this is not optimum, the normal immune system “bird dogs” the cells, attacks and destroys them. However, for a woman with endometriosis, the immune system either does not detect the foreign endometrial cells, or it is unable to combat them. The theory goes that if the immune system is already busy fighting other illnesses, such as allergies and even yeast infections, it may not be as competent in fighting the endometrial cells.

A healthy diet that is high in fiber and antioxidants can help to strengthen the immune system. Vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E are also very important to strengthening the body and aid in immunity as well as repairing the body. Additionally, adequate sleep and a reduction in stress levels can also help considerably. Sleep deprivation can wreak havoc on the immune system, as can stress. It is important to take good care of yourself and take exceptional care of your body through a healthy diet and regular exercise.

We may never know exactly what role, if any, the immune system plays in endometriosis, but it does seem clear that there is a distinct link between the two. More and more doctors are treating endometriosis as more of an autoimmune disorder and are having positive results. The important thing is to take care of your body and limit your exposure to viruses and other illnesses because once you come down with an illness, your system weakens and you may find that your endometriosis flares during this weakened period. The best thing that you can do is take care of yourself and stay healthy.
