While doctors are still prescribing strong drugs, there are alternative therapies such as use of probiotics for bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. They are a great alternative to people who either don’t want to take the strong medications, or for whom they haven’t worked. Not only can probiotics help treat these conditions, they can also help prevent them from reoccurring.

But how, exactly, do probiotics for bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections work? Well, contrary to today’s bacteria phobic society where everything from handsoap to laundry detergent is being touted as “antibacterial” some bacteria is actually good for you. In fact, a certain amount of ‘good’ bacteria is essential for optimum health.

As soon as we’re born, beneficial or ‘good’ bacteria start to colonize in our bodies, in our mouth, digestive tract, and vagina. Unfortunately, the detrimental or ‘bad’ bacteria do as well, but as long as the good bacteria keep the bad in check, then everything is ok. Conditions such as bacterial vaginosis develop when the bad bacteria are allowed to overgrow and then outnumber the good.

This is where probiotics come into play. While not the traditional first course of treatment (antibiotics are – with limited success) it has been proven that there any benefits to using probiotics for bacterial vaginosis. Probiotics, either in supplement form or when present in live culture yogurt, can help restore the levels of the good bacteria in the body.

Some of the best probiotics for bacterial vaginosis are from the Lactobacillus strain. Certain specific strains of this probiotic have been proven to inhibit the growth of the bacteria that cause bacterial vaginosis, such as gardnerella by producing substances such as lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins.

There are many things that can cause this imbalance in bacteria that makes it necessary to use probiotics for bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. This includes the use of antibiotics (which is why it doesn’t really work as a treatment) dietary changes, smoking, sexual activity, and even changes in stress level, and can lead to either bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection, depending on whether it is the bad bacteria or a fungus that overgrow. Because the exact cause can be very difficult to either identify or control, it is important to try and maintain high levels of good bacteria.

Find a supplement that’s specifically formulated women; these supplements will be sure to have high levels of exactly the right probiotics for bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections.

A common complaint among women is an infection known as bacterial vaginosis, or BV. This condition arises when the pH level in the vagina is disrupted. Micro-organisms called lactobacillus, a good type of bacteria, are naturally present in the vagina and create an acidic-based environment in which other types of bacteria can not survive.

If the balance of lactobacillus is disturbed, other organisms may take hold and result in an infection. Bacterial vaginosis cures are available to bring the infection under control and correct the imbalance in the vaginal flora.

As with most infections, there are signs to be aware of. Bacterial vaginosis presents with the secretion of a grayish or yellowish discharge with an unusual odor, swelling, itching, soreness, or irritation around the vagina, vulva, or anus. Other symptoms might include a burning sensation when urinating, or discomfort during sexual intercourse.

It is important that if you experience any of these symptoms, medical attention is sought to determine what type of infection you may have. As other kinds of vaginal infections may exhibit similar signs, testing would be necessary for your physician to establish what has caused the infection and what treatment option would be the best of the bacterial vaginosis cures available.

Antibiotic medications are generally used to treat bacterial vaginosis, however, there are other ways to remedy the problem. In addition to an antibiotic, your doctor may suggest an acidophilus supplement to help bring the pH level of the vagina back to normal.

Other supplements used in clinical trials have been proven to be effective in the treatment of vaginal infections. Your physician should be consulted to see if any of these might be beneficial to you in curing your condition and maintaining long term health to avoid recurrence of the infection.

Researchers advocate that bacterial vaginosis cures include a well balanced diet to maintain overall healthiness although a supplemental multivitamin may be suggested by your doctor to ensure you get all the nutrients you need to help boost your immune system and prevent future attacks.

Many multivitamins are available with minerals in their composition to increase resistance to infections and encourage faster healing. Some herbs have been proven to contain properties that increase the effectiveness of your immune system, but it is very important to be cautious before taking any herbal medication.

If you are on birth control pills, fertility drugs, or any other medications, it is highly recommended to consult your doctor first before introducing them into your system to prevent drug interactions as some herbs may have a detrimental affect on what treatment plan you are currently following. Only an experienced practitioner can determine if herbal supplements would be a benefit to you.Bacterial Vaginosis, bacterial vaginosis cures, bacterial vaginosis natural, bacterial vaginosis treatment, vaginosis treatment

Bacterial vaginosis can often be mistaken for a yeast infection or trichomoniasis. The common symptoms for this type of infection are a vaginal discharge that maybe milky white, yellow or a grey color as well as a fish like odor that may be more powerful after sexual intercourse. Other symptoms of this infection can also include soreness around the vaginal area, burning while you urinate and itching.

Bacterial vaginosis is an inflammation of the vagina and in most cases may disappear on its own, however if left untreated it can cause health problems, especially in pregnant women. Of course there are several different treatments that can be used to help cure this infection and that’s including natural remedies for bacterial vaginosis.

Normally if you are diagnosed with a case of bacterial vaginosis your doctor may prescribe you some form of antibiotic to fight the infection or some type of cream or gel that can applied to the vagina to treat the infection. There are however natural remedies for bacterial vaginosis. Take garlic for example.

Garlic has very important antibacterial and antifungal properties in garlic and is considered one of the best natural remedies to help treat bacterial infections. All it can take is for you to take 1 or 2 capsules of garlic a day to help your symptoms subside. There are a few other natural remedies that you can use to help fight this infection, there’s: Goldenseal, Tracheal, tea tree oil, olive leaf extract and colloidal silver.

The question is, with using natural remedies like these, is sure they can help to fight off bad bacteria, but what happens once that bacteria has disappeared. How do you replenish it? Well there are even some natural remedies that you can use to replace the good bacteria back into your body to help continue to fight off any bad bacteria. Eating yogurt on a regular basis can help to replace any good bacteria in your body so that it can continue to fight off any overgrowth of bad bacteria that may cause an infection.

So if you aren’t the type to take antibiotics or you just want to try out some natural remedies for bacterial vaginosis before heading to the doctor, then try some of these. However, if you have any questions at all then it’s best to consult your doctor so that they can best provide you with the information you are looking for.
