Well designed, accurate scale. Only four stars because it’s a bit hard to turn on.

I bought this because our previous scale (a 4-year old digital one) gave sporadic results all the time.

This EatSmart scale caught my eye on a deals site. Wonderful price! Not only does it constantly give the correct weight each time I step on it, it’s looks nice too. The backlit display is great (especially when it’s early morning, dark, and I’m standing in my own shadow. ) It also computes my weight quickly (at least, a lot quicker than my old digital scale did. )

The only “negative” thing I can think of is that it doesn’t sense the “toe-tap” to turn it on. I have to slightly lift up the scale and nudge it an inch to “wake” it up. But that’s also a good feature for me. If it’s accidently knocked, it’s unlikely to turn on and waste any battery life. Since I don’t see that as a problem, I definitely recommend this item.

I am currently participating in a weight loss challenge on sparkpeople. com that requires a weekly weigh -in. Unfortunately,I didn’t own a scale, and although I could feel that I was making weight loss progress by the fit of my clothing I had no way to concretely measure my progress. Well, actually I would drive about 10 miles to my sister’s home and weigh-in which is a huge inconvenience in the best of weather.
I chose this scale after having read the reviews for almost every scale Amazon offered. I was happy to be able to have the item shipped to my p. o. box instead of having to be concerned about the package sitting on my front stairs exposed to the elements while I may have been out and about. Once I opened the package and followed the directions for set up I performed the ultimate test . I weighed my 10 pound dumbell three times and each time the scale displayed “10 lbs” . I also like the fact that the scale weighs in kilograms . The scale is attractive ,user-friendly (easy to read and set up) ,and fabulously accurate. By the way, since the start of the weight loss challenge in the latter part of March,2009 (the first day of Spring) until last weigh -in which was May 01,2009 I’ve lost more than 15 pounds. This scale is definitely an important component in my toolbox for weight loss success.

I gave this only one star as it only worked for one day. It is on it’s way for return.
